Genesis Ramos is first-generation Honduran American. She grew up in a working class family, and is the first person in her family to run for office. She is a lifetime resident of the city of Newburgh. For the past decade, her career has been within the public sector. She has worked with a wide range of populations including individuals with disabilities, at-risk youth, victims of domestic violence and human trafficking, individuals living with chronic conditions, and creating positive youth development programs. Currently, her career is focused on healthcare administration. She is also a Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Consultant. Her career has been dedicated to serving others and achieving equitable outcomes. Genesis has been endorsed by the Working Families Party, the Orange County Democratic Committee, and the city of Newburgh Democratic Committee.
Genesis graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Masters in Public Administration from Marist college. She sits on the board of directors for Safe Harbors of the Hudson, Chairs the city of Newburgh Human Rights Commission, and Co-Chair’s the Strategic Economic Development Committee. For two years, she co-facilitated restorative justice circles for women. She is a solution-oriented, caring, and passionate leader. She has a pet beagle Sebi, and loves nature.
Genesis comes with a decade of experience in the public sector in which she has had the privilege to serve struggling families. She is committed to pushing for just, equitable, and inclusive legislation that is representative of and benefits everyone in here community.
Genesis has been a part of the Newburgh community for her entire life and there, she has worked tirelessly to make her home - and yours - a better place. She understands the energy and strategy needed to make change in the legislature. She has built a community driven team in her political campaign that will ensure she is elected and can therefore serve, guide, listen to and uplift her community.
Genesis will uphold the highest standards in governance - standards that her community deserves. She will work to ensure that access to Orange County services such as healthcare and public transportation are expanded for our community. Genesis understands that being in government is not about in power, but rather about influence and impact.
